The Sand Ceremony is optional and offered free of charge. It is our beach version of the unity candle. Each of you is given your own color of sand to pour into a heart shaped glass. As the sand is blended it represents the blending of two hearts into one. The heart glass is yours to keep. This is very popular now, especially with our beach weddings.
We have several
different colors of sand for you to choose from. See below for color
choices. You can add white sand to represent God as the foundation of your
marriage or a color to represent the child(ren) blending into this new family or
have a necklace ceremony before the sand ceremony to acknowledge the child(ren)
and how much he/she/they are loved.
The Sand Ceremony:
You have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. You have also chosen to symbolize this beautiful union with this Sand Ceremony. The two separate vases represent your two separate lives. As you each take a vase and pour sand into a common vessel, you are representing the uniting and blending of your lives into one.
Please take your vase and alternate pouring the sand into the common vessel. Just these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers; so will your lives be blended and united together forming one heart, one love from this day forward. For the two shall become one.
